Amarillo High School's Cafeteria Renovations
Amarillo High School, Caprock High School and Palo Duro High School had not been renovated in 30 years. The kitchen/cafeteria remodels were to reflect modern, clean lines using cutting edge tile and
installation products. A competitor’s product failed to install the large-format Laminam tiles properly and new product installation solutions were required.

A new building was designed to showcase ARDEX products. The building designs at the new ATCO Commercial Centre were inspired by two iconic Alberta images; the Rocky Mountains and the flowing lines of a prairie stream. Although stunningly beautiful, these designs made for a complex flooring installation throughout each building area.
The new Audi dealership in Blainville, Canada was about to begin construction on its 14,000 square feet service center and surrounding drive-throughs. Flooring installation products had not yet been selected, due to the high demand for a single source manufacturer that could meet the strict requirements for waterproofing and uncoupling. The lead contractors also highly preferred a single source manufacturer whose products were backed by a comprehensive warranty.
Bell MTS Place
The Bell MTS Center, home of the NHL Winnipeg Jets, was scheduled to receive a fresh look makeover and a very tight timeline to do it in. With many moving parts inclusive of porcelain panel staging, material storage, skilled installers and trade schedules – it took a collaborative effort to pull the project together. With strict requirements for installation products, a single-source manufacturer that could provide a solution to all installation challenges was required.
Bellevue Drive Private Residence
In early spring 2015, the Bellevue Drive home owners were
ready to begin an exterior façade tile installation. Inclement
weather and high temperatures often delayed the installation

Best Chevy Car Dealership
General Motors requires its dealerships to undergo showroom renovations every five years to maintain a chic and inviting atmosphere. In keeping with these requirements, Best Chevrolet Hingham was to install new 16 x 16 porcelain tiles in its showroom. Roth & Seelen, Inc., wanted to install the new tiles on top of existing 12 x 12 porcelain tiles, but was concerned new tile joints might line up with old tile joints and become unstable causing lippage and tripping hazards. The new floor would have to withstand heavy vehicle loads (i.e. Chevy Suburban) rolled on the sales floor using hard casters. As many as 15 vehicles are displayed on the showroom floor at one time. Beverly Hills Medical Building
The Willshire Medical Building is located in Beverly Hills. The exterior facade was covered with 3’ x 3 3/4’ granite slabs mechanically affixed to the building. The building owner decided to renovate the interior and exterior of the building with porcelain tile. For aesthetic purposes, the porcelain tiles chosen for the exterior cladding were very thin 20” x 40” that were just 5mm thick, and 40” x 96” only 3.5 mm thick.
Billy Bishop Airport Pedestrian Tunnel
Located on Toronto Island, Billy Bishop Airport is Canada’s ninth busiest and welcomes more than two million business and leisure travelers each year. The new 550 foot long, 60 foot wide pedestrian tunnel project located 100 feet below ground allows travelers to reach the airport by foot. This tunnel is the first land-link
between Toronto Island and the mainland. Twenty five thousand square feet of 3’ x 3’ (1m x 1m) fiberglass backed porcelain Laminam wall tile were to be installed on walls and 30,000 square feet of 12” x 24”(30cm x 60cm) porcelain tiles on tunnel floors. Originally specified with a competitor’s product, York Marble

Calgary Public Library
The highly anticipated Calgary Public Library, still under construction, needed to overcome various substrate issues on each level of the building. With a grand opening scheduled for late 2018, construction delays were not an option.
Chevy's Fresh Mex
Chevy’s Fresh Mex was scheduled to open in a three month timeframe. This was a mall renovation where the new restaurant would occupy multiple spaces with old carpet, quarry tile, VCT, concrete and newly poured concrete flooring. Click Bond’s factory in Watertown, CT was about to undertake a 4,600 - sq. ft. flooring remodel. Employee productivity could not be impeded due to the flooring work, so minimalizing worker interference was extremely important. Total replacement of the existing floor was not cost prohibited so finding a solution that could utilize the existing subfloor would be needed.
Coast Capital Savings Help Headquarters
Coast Capital Savings headquarters, the newly constructed, 180,000 square-foot, nine story building houses staff offices, a daycare, rooftop lunchroom, a gym and corporate training space. Metroworks Tile & Stone approached Robertson Floors LTD regarding tile installations in the elevator and building lobby doors. Fosdick Fulfillment wanted to remodel the flooring at their headquarters facility in Wallingford, CT. Although the facility was a large-scale project at over 6,400 sq. ft., shutting down areas of the facility for construction was
not an option. The entire floor would need remodeled in a month or less and the existing flooring could not be demolished.
George Lawrence House
Built in 1891, the George Lawrence House underwent a full renovation starting in 2015 to bring the original
historic décor back to life. Using extremely rare and expensive tiles from Italy and across Europe, ARDEX Tile and
Stone Installation Systems were selected solely for the setting of over 2,400 square feet of marble flooring,
walls and shower tile throughout the home. Working on a 125 year old original structure, lacking heat during
the cold winter months in Galesburg, IL proved challenging.
H&M Herald Square
The new flagship H&M clothing store located at Herald Center in Manhattan, New York is the largest H&M store in the world. When the building owner began renovations to prepare the historic building for the store opening, some serious flooring issues where discovered. The 90 year-old floors required leveling before new large format porcelain
tiles could be installed by six union tile crews throughout the space.

Hotel Blackfoot, currently under construction, needed to find the proper materials that could securely and safely install the 3’x5’x ½” polished stone panels on the exterior pillars and entryway ceiling.

London Aquatics Centre
The 260,000 square-foot London Aquatics Centre required a proven tiling solution which could deliver fast track completion, as well as the ability to withstand the challenging environment within the centre during construction including rigorous hygiene demands.
McAllen Irrigation Standpipes Public Art Mosaic Project
The McAllen Public Art Committee designed a series of five
mosaic drawings intended to represent local bird species which
were fabricated into a 1” X 1” glass tile mosaic format. The first
design was inspired by McAllen’s city bird the Green Jay. The
newest tower was inspired by the black-bellied Whistling Duck.
These complicated exterior tile installations required products
that could be installed vertically and withstand the changing
elements. The installation team was particularly challenged

Mercedes-Benz Showroom Floor
The newly constructed 46,000 square-foot Mercedes-Benz car dealership in Langley, British Columbia was scheduled to receive porcelain tile over a newly poured, on grade concrete slab. Slab leveling, crack repair and anti-fracture measures were required to prepare the slab for tile installation. Several other trades were on site requiring rapid-drying and fast track products to be used

Modern Residence on 45th
Construction was scheduled to begin on a luxurious residence in Vancouver, BC. Interior and exterior areas of the new home were to be fitted with floor and wall tile in the kitchen, bathrooms, deck, patio and wall feature in the common area. Moose Hotel and Suites
Banff Caribou Properties started construction on a 172 room hotel featuring 1 indoor pool and 2 rooftop pools, during some winter months. One of the largest developments in Alberta, the Moose Hotel and Suites is a premier destination lodge and resort. Extreme weather conditions in the Rocky Mountains would prove challenging for building the outdoor roof top pools, therefore only the highest quality building materials would be selected.
North Creek Mosaic Project
Starting in 2011, the community of North Creek, NY has commissioned
tiling work along a 200 ft. retaining wall flanking the entrance into
downtown. Lead by local artist Kate Hartley, the Jonsburgh Fine Arts
Group, and thousands of volunteers; the North Creek Mosaic Project is
an on-going work in progress. The varying and extreme temperatures
in the Adirondack Mountains would put to the test the workability and
durability of tile and stone mortars. The project was also faced with
overcoming fundraising obstacles and the number of volunteer man
hours needed to complete this community project.
O'Reilly Auto Parts Warehouse
O’Reilly Auto Parts began a $32.9 million rennovation project on a 375,000 square-foot warehouse in Devens with plans to convert an existing building into an automated distribution center with 20,700 square-feet of office space. More than 6,100 square feet of large-format tile was to be installed in lobby areas, hallways, bathrooms and a cafeteria. After existing flooring was removed, large areas of uneven floors were discovered. Before tiles could be installed, leveling

Pacific Rim Charter School
Academy of the Pacific Rim Charter Public School needed to open the 2017-2018 school year with renovations to the main entrance hall completed. The existing subfloor was gypsum-based with a high gloss finish and was cracked throughout the entire 3,800 sq. ft. floor. Budgetary and time constraints required a solution that would finish the job within 2 weeks, while providing a complete system warranty.
Porsche Centre Vancouver was constructing a brand new state-of-the-art facility featuring an impressive display of curved concrete and glass in a modern, spacious decorated showroom. Built in the new hub of luxury car dealers at 688 Terminal Avenue, the dealership boasts more display space for a massive selection of new and used inventory, double the number of service bays and more customer parking. Prairie Ribbon Exterior Mosaic Wall Installation
Fort Worth artist Pamela Summers planned to install a 780-foot mosaic
“ribbon” along a concrete retaining wall on Northeast 15th Street off I-30 for the city of Grand Prairie, Texas. The installation was to take place during the summer so all work was planned for early morning hours before the daily temperature became too hot. Private Residence Exterior Patio
The private family home features a 1,500 square-foot stone tile patio surround. The original installation using competitor’s grouts and mortars failed after four years. The family were worried the tiles would soon start cracking and popping off causing safety and liability concerns. Private Residence Swimming Pool - Kelowna, B.C.
After their home was destroyed by a forest fire, the owners of this luxury private residence built a concrete swimming pool embedded into the hillside of the homes backyard with a stunning overlook of a lake and the valley below. Rock was blasted to make way for the inground pool. The pool sat empty for nearly two years. With a graduation party scheduled to take place at the pool, Exquisite Tile Services was pressed to finish this complex installation of porcelain and glass mosaics. Clark Pacific reached out to ARDEX Sales Professional Brian Naumovski for recommendations on a comparable tile mortar to test against LATICRETE 254 Platinum, for setting Neolith Sintered Compact Surface tiles (6mm) on the exterior of the new technical building for San Leandro’s Tech Campus. The tile mortar selected would have to withstand a range of pull tests, extreme heat temperatures, and transportation conditions from offsite installation to final construction site.
Schwartz Athletic Center Indoor Swimming Pool
The Schwartz Athletic Center indoor swimming pool was being fitted for a new stainless steel gutter. When the old gutter was removed, the tile walls began to crumble and fall into the pool. ARDEX Sales Professional Matt Minney was called in by Wallover Architects to evaluate the damage and recommend ARDEX Tile & Stone Installation Systems products to bring the swimming pool back to working order. D. G. March & Associates was given one month to complete the project. In the meantime, Widener University swim team traveled to a temporary location for practice and swim meets. Spirit of Boston
n 2015, the Spirit of Boston touring ship underwent a complete renovation including removal of the existing flooring down to bare metal. A new glass tile dance floor, as well as porcelain tile, carpet, and rubber tile were to be installed throughout the ship. TileCraft & Carpet and Cooley Marine Management insisted on the highest-quality installation materials able to withstand movement in the metal decking and provide a sanitary, easy-to-maintain finish.
SpringHill Suites – Plano, TX

Tottenham Court Road
Tottenham Court Road London Underground Station opened as part of the Central London Railway in 1900. Today, due to its location in the capital, it connects over 150,000 passengers daily around London, and this is expected to increase to over 200,000 when Cross Rail services the station in 2018. Platform refurbishments are needed to keep pace with the increase in service.
U.S. Bancorp Tower
A $15 million renovation of the U.S. Bankcorp Tower added 15,000 square feet of rentable space and updated retail facades, staircases and unique glass walkways. The floor substrate was curling and breaking after a toppings slab was poured. Time was crucial as installations had to be done in time for a media open house. Competing manufacturer’s products were specified but could not meet installation requirements. The initial tile installer refused to work on the existing substrate so replacement installation products were needed for the job. West Chester University Graham Natatorium Pool
After 50 years of use, West Chester University decided to renovate the Graham Natatorium Pool used by their men’s and women’s swimming teams, and several local high school and club teams. The pool required a complete overhaul including the removal of all pool deck and interior tiles.
