Situation

Ken’s salad dressing was born in a steakhouse in 1941 and now is available nationwide. Along with such rapid and sustained business growth comes the need for infrastructure to support the business. When Ken’s Foods was adding a 30,000 ft2 (2,787 m2) building for office space, the project couldn’t be ready fast enough for the ownership.

Solution

Both Columbia Construction and Business Interiors Floor Coverings had experienced the speed of ARDEX Concrete Management Systems™ (ACMS™) during an installation of more than 100,000 sq. ft2 at Boston Scientific’s Headquarters. John Gabaree, Business Interiors’ Project Manager, reached out to ARDEX Sales Professional Michael Harris for a solution at Ken’s Foods project.

“We knew from previous experience on a large jobsite that ACMS would provide added value to the owner and the general contractor,” said Gabaree. “With ACMS, roadblocks that come up at the finished floor phase are avoided. There are no unexpected delays to shotblast, mitigate moisture, level and reschedule multiple trades. Owners and GCs love the reliability that ACMS provides and so do we.”

ACMS™ proactively addresses concrete construction issues through a patented, specified finishing method for new concrete. ACMS can be installed using ARDEX MC™ RAPID to allow almost immediate installation of finished flooring while mitigating future risks of moisture emissions from the slab. The resulting finish delivers a concrete substrate capable of meeting the most demanding flatness and levelness tolerances for both the flooring and other interior trades.
