Bechtold Residence Swimming Pool, Oregon

This complex glass mosaic tile installation for a new swimming pool in Oregon required high-quality installation materials be used.

Situation

The Becktold family planned to install a brand new swimming pool in their Oregon home. A complex glass mosaic tile installation required high-quality installation materials be used. Anderson Poolworks planned to use a competitors system for the tile installation but after learning they would have to wait four weeks before tiles could be submerged, decided to look for more options.

Tile Contractor: Anderson Poolworks – Wilsonville, OR
Tile Installer: All Phase Tile and Stone- Clackamos, OR

Challenge

  • Accelerated schedule
  • Waterline 1” x 2” hand-cut mosaic tile installation

Solution

ARDEX Sales Professional William White visited the jobsite and shared the benefits of using ARDEX Tile & Stone Installation Systems products. ARDEX WA and ARDEX FL grouts allow for water submersion two weeks after tiles are installed. Though they had never used ARDEX tiling products before, the time savings alone made Anderson Poolworks installers excited about ARDEX products. William conducted a job start showing how ARDEX AM 100 worked to smooth pool walls. ARDEX 8+9 was applied as a topside waterproofing and crack isolation membrane. He came back for a second job start when installers were ready to apply ARDEX WA as a mortar and grout. “ARDEX WA is much easier to apply and clean than any other epoxy we’ve used,” said Anderson Poolworks installer Brian. “There is no sag when tiles are installed!’ added Vlad Buzhduga of All Phase Tile and Stone. ARDEX FL was used to grout the remainder of the tiles and ARDEX SX sealed all joints and edges in the pool. The project was eligible for an ARDEX SystemOne™ Warranty. The finished product was a beautiful, high-end pool installation the Becktold family could enjoy for years to come.
