The ARDEX MC™ RAPID MOISTURE CONTROL SYSTEM is a one-coat, 100% solids epoxy moisture management system formulated to suppress excessive moisture vapor emissions in new or existing concrete prior to installing an ARDEX underlayment with flooring. It is especially suited to treat areas of new concrete in critical installations, such as health care and institutional applications where the construction schedule does not allow adequate drying of the concrete. ARDEX MC RAPID is also recommended over existing concrete where the level of moisture emissions from the slab exceeds the maximum allowed by the manufacturer of the finished floor covering.

The Clemente Ruiz Nazario U.S. Courthouse and Federico Degetau Federal Building were built in 1975. Renovation plans include turning the buildings into high-performance, economically - friendly facilities. Moisture concerns became an issue when plans to install commercial luxury vinyl were revealed. Multiple layers of flooring had to be abated and mechanically removed. Basement concrete in a mechanical equipment room was unlevel and rough. This $85 million project is one of several in Puerto Rico being funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Moisture readings were in the high 80s and low 90s, well above

F.H. Corky Smith Gymnasium Courts & Sports
During a remodel of the gymnasium entry way, concession stand and common areas two major sub-floor issues were discovered as renovations began. Vapor emission testing revealed areas of the existing slab were above 90% RH.
After existing tiles were demolished, cracks in the sub-floor were discovered. Before tile installation could proceed, these cracks had to be filled and made flush with the existing subfloor. RH moisture vapor readings were as high as 98% in certain areas of a relatively new, 690,000 sq. ft. floor.
